Hartwick women’s basketball coach Katie Marcella, with her back to the camera, hugs player Caitlin Corbett, after Corbett scored her 1,000th point of her college career on Jan. 26 against Sage. Coach and player are both Guilderland graduates — Marcella in 2003 and Corbett in 2015. Hartwick won the Empire 8 tournament for the first time in program history and finished the season 23-5, tied for the second-most wins in a season. Hartwick fell to Emmanuel College in the first round of the National Collegiate Athletic Association tournament, 69-65. It was the first time since 2014 that Hartwick had appeared in the NCAA tournament.
