The kids behind the playground: Fifth-graders at Pine Bush Elementary School pushed to have a playground that could be used for their schoolmates with handicaps. State Senator George Amedore kept the letter the kids had written him, thanking him for securing a member-item grant for $10,000 that helped fund the new play area. He read their words at the opening celebration Wednesday. Pine Bush hosts Capital Region BOCES special-education classes; nearly 40 elementary-age students with disabilities learn in the school’s five Board of Cooperative Educational Services classrooms and will now be able to enjoy the playground, which is open to the public after school hours.
