The Enterprise — Michael Koff

A veteran’s salute: Joseph Persico, who wrote speeches for Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller and co-authored a book with Colin Powell, is posthumously honored while Taps plays at a ceremony held for him on Monday. Persico, who had lived in Guilderland, also served on the American Battle Monuments Commission and served on the commission charged with the design and creation of the World War II Memorial on The Mall in Washington, D.C. Seven of his words — “Here we mark the price of freedom” — are inscribed on the memorial.
