Learn to Fish at Thompson’s Lake. 9 to 11 a.m. DEC Fisheries staff will teach program participants how to identify common sportfish, how to cast a spin-casting rod, bait a hook and fishing safety. Citizen Science: Nature’s Night Lights Firefly Watch. 8:30 to 10 p.m. Fireflies are an essential part of a summer evening in the Northeast. Join us this evening as we hike approximately one mile looking for fireflies and learn how you can participate in Firefly Watch at home. Ages 10+. Five Rivers Outdoor Day. 56 Game Farm Road, Delmar. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event marks DEC's first Outdoor Day, where visitors will have the opportunity to try outdoor activities first-hand, such as hiking, bird watching, and fishing.

Music and nature: Join the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy and the Albany Symphony for an outdoor reception and light refreshments before a performance by the brass musicians of the Albany Symphony, conducted by David Alan Miller. Generously hosted by Stewart Myers at his historic home in Rensselaerville, the evening will also include guided walks through the lawns, fields, and gardens of the Daniel Conkling House, a restored 1806 Federal mansion. The Albany Rowing Center (ARC) invites community members to experience the exciting sport of rowing for free. Drop in between 8:30 a.m. and noon; program duration approx 45 minutes.
