The new season of Old Songs “Barn” Community Dances, starting Saturday evening, Nov. 4, 7 p.m. Admission is $8 per person; children age 12 and under get in for free. A yummy dessert and snack potluck during intermission will return by popular demand. The first dance will feature caller Paul Rosenberg and music by Fennig's All Stars at the Old Songs Community Arts Center, 37 S. Main Ave., Voorheesville, NY 12186. The season continues monthly on first Saturdays every month through May.
Full Moon Hike at Thacher Park on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 6:00 p.m. Join us for a 2.5-mile hike to the escarpment at dusk. We’ll watch the full moon rise over the Hudson Valley from Hang Glider Cliff. We may need flashlights for the hike out, but if the sky is clear we can hike back by moonlight. Meet at the Carrick Road trailhead at 6pm. On Oct. 28, millions around the world will commemorate OXI (pronounced ō-hē) Day, a day honoring Greece’s courageous resistance during World War II. The day will be remembered at USS SLATER with a brief program beginning at 9:00 a.m. Fr. Dennis Nagi of St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church will provide a historical account of Oxi Day. USS SLATER volunteers and friends will be joined by special guest Dr. Nicholas Athanassiou. USS SLATER is located on the Hudson River in Downtown Albany.
