On Friday, April 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the SUNY Poly’s Albany Campus – Zero Energy Nanotechnology (ZEN) Building on 201 Fuller Road in Albany, middle school students who attend the Albany PAL April Vacation Camp will take a tour of SUNY Poly’s Albany campus where they will also take part in inspiring nanotechnology-based experiments and demonstrations centered on understanding the principles of magnetic force, electrical current, and chip fabrication.

FAMILY FUN: THE WORLD OF WORMS at 10:00 am. Why are worms so slimy? Why does the early bird get the worm? Join us to learn all about worms and the soil they help make. We will observe earthworms in different environments, take a short outdoor walk, and make our very own worm jars. We will provide some jars, but bring your own if possible. Susan Burton, author, activist and former inmate will talk about her life and work as part of the keynote event at UAlbany's School of Criminal Justice's symposium "Incarcerating Girls and Women: Past and Present." She will speak following a screening of the Moyers & Company edition of "Incarceration Nation" 7 p.m. Friday, April 6 at Page Hall, 135 Western Avenue, on the University at Albany downtown campus. We will talk about the special adaptations that beavers have in order to survive the winter and take a walk around our Beaver Pond to see if we can see signs of this wonderful animal. FAMILY FUN: SQUIRRELS FOR KIDS at 10 a.m. Join us for this event, including an indoor presentation, a craft project, and games to learn about the squirrels in our area. If weather permits, we will head outside for a walk to look for signs of these animals and perhaps find the animals themselves. This program is geared toward children ages 5-10. The Guilderland Public Library, 2228 Western Ave., will share its plans for the library’s renewal and seek public input on Wednesday, April 11 at 3 pm and again at 7 pm.

The Town of Guilderland and the Lyme Action Network will co-sponsor an informational presentation by Prof. Holly Ahern, SUNY Adirondack microbiology professor and nationally recognized expert on Lyme and other tick-borne diseases on April 10 at 7 pm at the Guilderland Town Hall.

Learn Italian Classes (Advanced) starting Tuesday, April 10 (Tuesdays for 7 weeks) from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m at the American Italian Heritage Association and Museum,1227 Central Ave, Albany, NY 12205. Instructor Dr. John Angerosa, Jr., will lead this course beginning Tuesday, April 10.  It runs for seven weeks with the last class being Tuesday, May 22, 2018. Students should be able to converse in Italian and have an interest in enhancing their knowledge of the grammatical basis of this beautiful language.
