Saturday, August 4, at 2:00 p.m.: “Home is Where the Hive is” at Thacher Nature Center. Join us for a fun and fascinating look at our honeybee observation hive! We’ll meet the querulous queen, the woebegone workers, and the dull drones, while learning about the various jobs they have within the colony. Observe up close the features of the hive, including the fabulous feeding port and the tubular TUBE. Try on the beekeeping equipment, and test your honeybee knowledge in a friendly trivia game! Program is appropriate for adults and children.
Canine Camp will run July 30 - August 3, from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. Our theme this year is “Dogs with Jobs.” Join us to learn about canine health, behavior, training, enjoy demonstrations, and meet new friends! Youth ages 10-18 are welcome to attend. Calling All Insect Enthusiasts! at Thacher Nature Center at 1:00p.m. Learn how to catch insects like a professional, identify them, and get started on your very own collection! Come learn about them while you paint this blue beauty with artist and teacher Noreen Powell. Learn to use artistic techniques to create a sense of texture and movement that will make your painting come to life! Fee of $10 includes all materials.
