This program by Patrick Stenshorn of the Albany Institute of History and Art will provide insights into the Hudson River School and its impact on the conservation movements of the late 19th and 20th centuries. Scandinavian Christmas Ornaments at Thacher Nature Center from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Come to the Nature Center to enjoy making traditional Scandinavian Christmas ornaments with one of our local artisans. Basket weaver and artist Karin Kuck will show you how to make woven Norwegian reindeer ornaments and Finnish Christmas stars - you'll be very impressed with your final product! Nature Illustration Workshop on the Autumnal Equinox with Sandy Orris on Saturday, Sept. 22, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM. Eldridge Research Center | 284 Pond Hill Road Rensselaerville, NY. This workshop will begin indoors at the Eldridge Research Station with a demonstration on using colored pencils for accurate botanical sketching. The use of colored pencils for keeping an illustrated science journal will also be discussed. Participants will be able to work indoors or outdoors on a project of their choice. Please bring your own colored pencils and a drawing pad.
