Exploring Hailes Cave. 7 p.m. at the Clarksville Community Church. Thom Engle of the Northeastern Cave Conservancy will present a program on Hailes Cave.  Of the caves known in Thacher Park, Hailes Cave is the longest.  Historically the cave was visited frequently, but in recent years it has been inaccessible.  With the new Thacher Master Plan the cave is being remapped by the Northeastern Cave Conservancy, the same group that owns Clarksville Cave.  Take a photographic and cartographic tour of the cave and learn what is there and what the future of exploration may reveal. 768-2870.

“Synagogue Scholars” series with a book discussion by University at Albany Professor Martha Rozett of The Secret Chord by Geraldine Brooks. Rozett will lead the conversation immediately following the B’nai Sholom Congregation Shabbat service. The service and program, open to all who wish to worship and learn, begin at 8 p.m.  B’nai Sholom is located at 420 Whitehall Road, Albany.

Questions For God, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., you'll have a chance to discuss God, theology, religion, the Bible, spirituality and related topics with a panel of clergy from different faith traditions as is our custom. Panelists include: Rev. Alexandra Lusak, moderator of the Rensselaerville Presbyterian Church; and Imam Djafer Sebkhaoui. We'll start with a pot luck supper in Conkling Hall. The Jerusalem Reformed Church of Feura Bush will hold a Christmas Eve candlelight service commencing at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary at 1433 Indian Fields Road on Dec. 24, led by the Reverend Norman C. Hamm.  A Christmas Hymn sing also will be held later that evening in the sanctuary beginning at 11:30 p.m.  All are welcome.

Community Dinners. From 5 to 7 p.m. (last seating at 6:30 p.m.), Altamont Reformed Church will host a free community dinner. Dinners will be held in the church Fellowship Hall on the first Monday of every month through June 2017. The menu for January is spaghetti and meatballs, salad, rolls, and dessert. Guests are asked to use the church’s rear entrance next to the parking lot or the handicapped accessible entrance across from the parsonage. Please bring high chairs or booster seats, if needed.
