Helderberg

Come and participate in the relaxing, gentle movements of Tai Chi. Helderberg Senior Services, the lunch program for seniors, is once again offering Tai Chi classes on Tuesdays.

The class is free to those aged 60 and older. (A modest donation may be requested but is never required.) Classes are taught by Eric McCandless.

Tai Chi is a combination of martial arts and energy flow. It consists of slow, continuous whole-body movements. The essential principles of Tai Chi include mind and body integration, fluid movements, controlled breathing and mental concentration.

More than three million Americans practice Tai Chi for various health-related purposes, including to improve physical condition, muscle strength, coordination, flexibility and balance, thereby decreasing the risk of falls, to ease pain and stiffness, to improve sleep and for overall wellness.

To register for this popular class, call Karen Stark at 518-937-5963. If you wish to stay for lunch after the class, Karen must know 24 hours in advance. Classes start at 10:30  a.m. and conclude by 11:30 a.m. Participants are urged to arrive by 10:20 a.m. the latest so classes may start on time.

Please note: Each participant is required to complete registration paperwork.

On Friday, Oct.18, bingo will be played following lunch. Prizes are awarded to each winner.
