Daniel Albert Tribley

Daniel Albert Tribley

Daniel Albert Tribley, formerly of Altamont, and residing in Ronkonkoma on Long Island, loved nature, especially the ocean, and he could build and fix almost anything.

He died on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. He was 61.

Born in Niskayuna on Sept. 23, 1961, he was the son of the late Floretta June (née Van Olpen) Brunk and the late Lawrence G. Tribley.

“Daniel graduated from Guilderland High School,” his family wrote in a tribute, “and was a dedicated and long-time employee of the Patchogue-Medford School District in Long Island where he was well loved and respected by his co-workers and once served as PTA president at his daughters’ school.

“Daniel was known for being very quick-witted and funny. He was lighthearted and had a truly amazing memory.

“He had a genuine love for nature and especially the ocean. He enjoyed fishing, hiking, and searching for and collecting antique bottles. He was an avid gardener and loved cooking and preparing seafood for his family and friends.

“Daniel could build and fix almost anything but had a true passion and talent for restoring old antique clocks. Family members still recall being startled at multiple clocks chiming all at once on the hour while visiting his home.

“He loved to play guitar and sing and would sometimes share songs with loved ones.”

Daniel... My good friend next door

My sincerest condolences. I believe I was Dan's first friend in Altamont. As his next door neighbor we saw your family move in. My sister Kathleen and I peeked thru our fence as Dan walked in the yard.. I called out "Hey kid, what's your name" ? That was the beginning of a very long friendship. Dan was like my big brother. He called me his "little buddy". He never cared about hanging out with me as I was 3 years younger. We did a lot together. He would take me on is rounds to pick up film @ the drop boxes in the company baby blue Ford Fairmont.. which we totaled on rt 158. We took that car fishing, camping, concerts everywhere. Dan introduced me to the gang @ Brother John's camp. We had so much fun up there. Dan and I lost touch for a while when I moved. We reconnected many years back. We both talked about our battles with cancer. He was great friend and I will miss him.
Peter Klein.
