Farewell and welcome

To the Editor:

After 17 years of service, our town is saying goodbye to our town clerk, Kathy Spinnato. Kathy served the residents who elected her well. She was always ready to help anyone with anything they asked for and, if she didn’t have the answer, she knew where to direct them.

I would like to publicly thank Kathy for all she has done and the family time she has sacrificed to serve our town. I appreciated everything she has done and wish her all the best in her retirement.

I am also proud to have been a part, along with Councilman Rich Filkins, to introduce a resolution to appoint Deputy Clerk Karla Weaver as acting town clerk. I am glad that Councilman Matt Kryzak voted in favor with Mr. Filkins and I and approved the appointment.

We look forward to working with Karla in these coming months and have every confidence that she will do well in her new acting role as town clerk for the residents of Westerlo. She was trained by both Mrs. Spinnato and former town clerk and deputy clerk, Trudy Smith.

She has had access to and learned from seasoned experts. She is professional, pleasant, courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable. I am confident that our appointment was the right one and that Ms. Weaver will transition smoothly and continue to serve our town in the way residents have grown accustomed to with our previous town clerks.

Best wishes to Mrs. Spinnato and congratulations to Ms. Weaver. I wish you both all the best.

Town Clerk and Deputy Town Clerk

I would like to add my voice to Amie's letter stating the sadness of Kathy's retirement! She was always professional, helpful and went over and above for any and all residents of the Town. Her commitment and dedication to the position of Town Clerk was honed way before she actually became Town Clerk. We owe her training to Gertrude Smith, who preceded Kathy as Town Clerk. Karla has learned from the 'BEST'. She has taken their skills and added them to her experience. She is a credit to both Kathy and Trudy. Karla is outgoing, intelligent and she also goes over and above for any and all residents in Westerlo. She is not afraid to tackle new advances or projects and does so eagerly. I look forward to continuing our working relationship.
