Crossgates Mall has filed suit against another tenant for not paying rent. 

Three party candidates and one write-in challenger are all vying for the State Senate seat left open by incumbent Republican George Amedore, a developer who declined to seek a fourth term

The public hearing on Pyramid’s proposed Rapp Road apartment project was kept open until Oct. 28, as one Guilderland resident questioned whether the Oct. 14 hearing should have even taken place. 

To present a balanced spending plan for 2021, Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy’s budget relies on tapping the county’s $60 million rainy-day fund for $3 million, reallocating $5 million that would have otherwise been appropriated toward paying off county debt, and $5 million in salaries and benefits savings from 72 employees who each accepted a $15,000 early-separation payout.

New Scotland’s tentative $8.5 million budget for 2021 is up about 4 percent compared to this year. To make up the spending increase, the town will have to tap its rainy-day fund and increase taxes.

The coronavirus has wreaked havoc on Crossgates Mall’s balance sheet, and the Guilderland retail center is just one of a number of Pyramid-owned malls that continue to deal with the fallout from the pandemic.

With just the month of October left, the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy is racing to raise another $90,000 to buy the former Bender melon farm in New Scotland.

As retail sales falter, Pyramid sued the town of Guilderland in August, seeking a lower assessment, but now the two find themselves as co-defendants in a suit over Pyramid’s proposed Costco and mixed-use projects.
