Nearly 80 firefighters from 11 companies met recently at the East Berne Fire and Rescue Company’s firehouse to study Air Medical Utilization and Landing Zone Safety.

What do normal people wonder about? I wonder about things like: What is the difference between a foil and an epee? Why learn to use a foil if it always has a flat tip? What good does it do you?

What did your grandmother’s parlor smell like? Got it? You are instantly back in that room, and you can even see what color the upholstery is on the settee.

Do not let your senior dog drive the car — at least not at night. His night vision decreases as he ages, and he can’t see as well as he used to.

Since this is the graduation issue, I thought I’d take this opportunity to give a commencement address.

Well, I’m glad that’s finally settled.

TMI. In contemporary parlance, that stands for “too much information,” and usually refers to something embarrassing, or too gross to imagine.

Knowing I’m going to die has made a big difference in my life.
