The American Legion Riders Seventh Annual Poker Run held last Saturday to raise funds for local, grassroots groups that support veterans.

Altamont Corners SitScape located at the corner of Main Street and Helderberg Avenue. The eco-friendly space was built by Flanagin’s co-creator and father, Jeff Thomas, the owner of Altamont Corners.

Three local runners, two from Voorheesville and one from Berne-Knox-Westerlo, slogged through the mud and snow at the State Cross-Country competition at Wayne High School in Ontario Center in western New York Saturday, racing against the fastest runners in New York. Each ran on the 3.1 mile course.

The Guilderland girls’ field hockey traveled to Shenendehowa on Wednesday afternoon for the Class A sectional semifinal and lost to Shen, 2 to 0.

Three Guilderland track-and-field athletes will compete in three separate events Friday and Saturday in the Division 1 state championships, along with a 4 x 800 relay team.

The Guilderland girls' lacrosse team handily won its Class A title game but on Saturday was beaten by Suffern, dashing hopes of another run at the state title.

Kids hopped on their sleds and took off as looks of glee or concern cross their faces at Guilderland’s Tawasentha Park on Sunday afternoon. A mother and her daughter, at top, having finished a run, begin the climb up the steep hill.

 

Westmere Fire Chief David Weiser and John Lutz Jr., head of the fire commissioners share a laugh as they uncouple the fire hose Saturday to officially open the doors on the departments new $5 million firehouse. Standing alongside Commissioner Lutz are the other fire commissioners: Bob Dinovo Sr., Sean Maguire, and David Juron.
