The Berne-Knox-Westerlo basketball team couldn't get anything going against Bishop Gibbons.

Change can be a good thing.

There are plenty of new faces for the Guilderland basketball team — including the head coach — but the foundation doesn't have to be rebuilt.

Six Guilderville swimmers left for Ithaca today for this weekend's state competition and they couldn't be happier.

These days, female athletes are taking the spotlight at Guilderland as five signed Division I scholarships. Also, a former Dutch soccer star made an All Rookie team for her efforts in college.

"They battled to the end," said Voorheesville's football coach after his team lost the only game of the season — in the semi-final.

Allie Tedeschi, Berne-Knox-Westerlo's front runner, has come out of the shadow of her older sister, now graduated, to set her own pace in the field.

Although Guilderland had lost most of its line-up from its championship season last year, new players stepped up and came close to the high bar, losing its playoff match, 1 to 0.

The Blackbirds are headed towards its best season in history. Voorheesville faces Fonda (7-1) in the semifinals this Saturday.

For the second year in a row, the Blackbirds were halted by Ichabod Crane in the boys' soccer match. This time, they took a goal, ending the game 2-to-1.
