On Tuesday, Sept. 24, the Voorheesville tennis team traveled to Valatie to battle the Riders of Ichabod Crane. The Birds fell 6-1.

On Monday, Sept. 23, the Guilderland boys’ volleyball team sailed over to Schenectady High School to take on the Patriots. The Dutch handled their business against the Patriots, winning three sets to none, 25-7, 25-14, 25-20.

On Friday, Sept. 20, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo/Duanesburg boys’ soccer team had a battle on their hands full against the Wolves of Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville. The Beagles finally broke the scoreless tie in the second half to win 1-0.

Last Thursday, Sept. 19, the Guilderland girls’ tennis team had themselves an early season test as they faced off against Saratoga. The Blue Streaks showed their talent and, although the Dutch battled hard, they fell 9-0.

On a fall Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 17, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo boys golf team took on Middleburgh at Cobleskill Country Club. The team won 198-231 and 13.5 to 1.5.

On Saturday, Sept. 14, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo cross-country team competed in the pre-state Queensbury Invitational on a hot and humid day. The Bulldogs competed in division four and the boys finished in 20th with 511 points while girls finished 19th with 458 points.

On Friday, Sept. 13, the Guilderland football team had their home opener for the 2024 season against Shen after coming off a victory at Bethlehem last week. Shen stifled the Dutch all game long in the Dutch’s 40-to-0 loss.

On Friday, Sept. 13, the Guilderland field hockey team hosted Suburban Council foe in Columbia. Guilderland took control midway through the first quarter and never looked back as the Dutch went on to win 9-to-0.

Last Thursday, Sept. 12, the Guilderland Dutchmen girls’ soccer team took to the pitch at Averill Park High School as they battled the Warriors on a warm afternoon. After an intense 80 minutes, the game ended in a scoreless tie.

On Tuesday, Sept. 10, the Voorheesville boys golf team hosted Council Council foe Mohonasen Warriors at Orchard Creek Golf Course. Birds used their talons on the Warriors to win 164-213.

On Saturday, Sept. 7, the Guilderland and Voorheesville cross-country teams both competed in the Blackbirds invitational held at the Swift Road town park.

On Friday, Sept. 6, the Voorheesville football team traveled to Rensselaer High School to take on the Rams. The Birds used a dominant first half to soar away to a 42-to-16 win.

Last Thursday, Sept. 5, the Voorheesville girls’ soccer team, the reigning Section 2, Class B champions, started their title defense against Albany Academy at home. The Blackbirds soared away in the second half to win, 6 to 1.

On Friday, Aug. 30, the Guilderland boys’ golf team made its way to McGregor Links Country Club in Wilton for an early season matchup against Saratoga. The Dutch shot well but Saratoga held on to a 145-164 win.

Last Wednesday, Aug. 28, the Guilderland girls’ golf team opened its season at home at the Western Turnpike Golf Course against Suburban Council foe, Colonie. The Dutch drove well and won 191-218.
