Duane Charles Kent

His family meant the world to Duane Charles Kent of Mobile, Alabama, a financial advisor who loved helping people.

He died peacefully on Monday, March 18, 2024, at The Retreat Hospice by Saad. He donated his body to the University of South Alabama Anatomical Gifts Program. He was 83.

Margaret Elizabeth Ewart

VOORHEESVILLE — Margaret Elizabeth Ewart “placed family, friends, the arts, nature, and travel at the forefront of her 59 years of life,” her family wrote in a tribute.
She died on Thursday, March 21, 2024.

Barbara Hohenstein Taylor

“Barbara Hohenstein Taylor was called home to be with the Lord on October 25, 2023,” her family wrote in a tribute. She was 81.

GUILDERLAND — Carole Richmond Hubbard, who was active in church ministries and devoted to her family, died peacefully on Saturday, March 23, 2024, surrounded by family and friends. She was 80.

She was born in Albany on June 11, 1943 to the late William Sr. and Mary Parsons Richmond.

Eleanor M. Reese

ALTAMONT — Eleanor M. Reese, a tough woman, had a long Civil Service career while raising three daughters.

She died on Nov. 30, 2023 at the age of 93, in her Altamont home with her daughter Susan by her side.

“She was a good woman,” said Susan Tymchyn, her youngest daughter. “She was my best friend.”

EAST BERNE — Christina Anne Baker, a social worker who liked spending time with her family, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. She was 74.

Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Margaret and Joseph Welsh Sr.

Her husband, Michael D. Baker Sr., died before her.

VOORHEESVILLE — Paul Richard Barrowman, a Vietnam veteran who worked as a carpenter and craftsman, was generous with his family and friends.

He died on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at home after a short illness. He was 75.

HIGHLAND, N.Y. — Kenneth G. Sisson, a carpenter by trade, who loved to snowmobile and hunt, died on Sunday, Feb. 25, 2024. He was 84.

He was born on Dec. 27, 1939, the son of the late Mildred Quick and Leland Sisson, stepson of Edsel Quick, brother of the late Katherine Quick and Clyde and Sonny “Leland” Sisson.

SLINGERLANDS — After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Gail P. Ryan-Tannen died on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 78.

Gerald “Dick” Lorenzo Hempstead, an outdoorsman who liked to hunt and fish, died on Sunday, March 3, 2024, surrounded by his beloved family. He was 81.

He was born on Feb. 19, 1943 in Catskill, New York to the late Gerald V. and Helen (née Decker) Hempstead.

ALTAMONT — A patriot and principled man who valued faith and civic duty, Harry Carlson helped engineer the state’s highway system.

He died on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024 with his family by his side. He was 92.

NEW SALEM — Kimberly Clarke Crawford of New Salem, an artist at heart, loved nature and her family.

She died on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024, in the loving arms of her kids.
