On Saturday and Sunday, June 17 and 18, the Guilderland track and field teams traveled to Philadelphia to compete at the New Balance Nationals on the historic Franklin Field track on the campus of University of Pennsylvania against the best in the country over a four-day event.

“We want to keep this free for kids, keep them off their screens and getting fresh air,” said Salvatore Sciangula.

On Tuesday, June 13, Guilderland Athletic Director David Austin spoke to the school board about the student athletes accomplishments from this years seasons in the fall, winter, and spring.

On Sunday, June 11, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Little Leaguers took on the team from Greenville Community Youth League at the Westerlo Town Park. It was game two of three in the Sandlot Sundays as part of the Mountain-Valley Youth Baseball Tournament; BKW won 12-6.

This past weekend, June 9 and 10, the Guilderland girls’ track team competed with the best in the state. The New York State Public High School Athletic Association event was held at Middletown High School. The Dutch are coming home with medals from most of their events.

Last Thursday and Friday, June 1 and 2, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo, Guilderland, and Voorheesville track teams competed to qualify for the New York State Public High School Athletic Association competition. The Dutch will have three relay teams and eight individuals competing.

Last Wednesday, May 31, the summer collegiate baseball season returned to Dutchmen Field in Keenholts Park. Twenty-six collegiate players from across the country make up the Albany Dutchmen, playing in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League practiced before the season opener.
