The combined Berne-Knox-Westerlo and Duanesburg swim team took to the pool at Mohonasen High School on Sept. 27 to take on the Academy of the Holy Names. BKW-Duanesburg won, 82 to 58.

On Monday afternoon, Sept. 26, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo girls’ soccer team hosted a Western Athletic Conference matchup against Fort Plain. The Hilltoppers were short handed on the bench and the BKW Bulldogs kept the ball for most of the game, winning 6 to 1.

On a windy afternoon, Sept. 22, the Guilderland boys’ soccer team hosted Christian Brothers Academy. The game went back and forth in the first half, but after halftime, the Dutch scored five unanswered goals to pull away and beat the Brothers, 6 to 1.

Last Wed, Sept. 21, the Voorheesville boys soccer team traveled to Albany Academy for a crucial Colonial Council matchup. The Blackbirds had to battle back twice when they fell behind but completed the comeback to win, 3 to 2.

On Tuesday, Sept. 20, the Guilderland girls’ tennis team hosted the Shaker Bison, a team they haven’t beaten in the regular season in four years. That changed this week, as Guilderland won, 7 to 2.

Last Thursday, Sept. 15, the Voorheesville girls’ volleyball team hosted the Academy of the Holy Names in a Colonial Council matchup. The Birds battled hard but fell, three sets to none; 23-25, 14-25, and 19-25.

Last Thursday, Sept. 15, the Voorheesville boys’ and girls’ golf teams took to the challenging course at Orchard Creek to take on Ichabod Crane and Mohonasen. The boys fell,  171 to 194, while the girls won, 159 to 181.

On Tuesday, Sept. 13, the Guilderland-Voorheesville girls swim team hosted Ballston Spa at Clayton A. Bouton High School. Guilderville pulled away late to beat the Scotties, 104 to 82.

On Saturday, Sept. 10, Voorheesville held their Blackbirds Invitational at Swift Town Park, with 23 schools battling it out in two divisions. Guilderland finished second for the boys and third for the girls.

On Thursday, Sept. 8, the Guilderland girls’ soccer team made the trip up to Colonie High School to take on the Garnet Raiders on the pitch. Colonie’s defense didn’t allow the Dutch much offense. Guilderland lost, 3 to 0.

Last Wednesday, Sept. 7, the Guilderland field hockey team kicked off the 2022 season against Columbia at Afrim’s Sports Park in Latham. Both teams' defenses were put to the test all game long but Guilderland were able to squeak one past the goalie to win 1 to 0.

On Saturday, Sept. 3, the Voorheesville football team took on Watervliet at home. After falling in overtime last year, the Blackbirds didn’t look back from the opening whistle in their 28-13 win.

On Friday, Sept. 2, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo golf team faced off against Galway at Pioneer Hills Golf Course. The Bulldogs fell, 234 to 185.

On Thursday, Sept. 1, the Guilderland Dutchmen girls’ volleyball team hosted the Ballston Spa Scotties in an early Suburban Council matchup. Both teams played hard through four sets but the Dutch got bested, losing three sets to one — 25-23, 23-25, 31-29, 25-18.

Last Wednesday, Aug. 31, the Voorheesville Blackbirds girls’ soccer team kicked off their 2022 season at home against the Cobleskill-Richmondville Bulldogs. The Birds started on the right foot from the opening whistle to final to win 7 to 0.
