On Tuesday afternoon, April 26, the Voorheesville Blackbirds hit the track against Ichabod Crane, Schalmont, and Cohoes in a Quadrangular Meet at home. The boys’ team got swept against Ichabod Crane 60-71, Schalmont 48-83, and Cohoes 47-93.

The Guilderland boys’ tennis team took to their home court to take on Christian Brothers Academy on April 22. Guilderland had an easy time and won 9-0.

On Thursday, April 21, the Voorheesville boys’ lacrosse team traveled to Lansingburgh to take on the Knights. The game had to be suspended due to a Lansingburgh player getting injured and taken to the hospital. The Birds won, 9 to 1, after the game was not made up.

On Monday afternoon, April 18, the Guilderland baseball team traveled to Shaker High School for an early game against the Blue Bison. Guilderland’s batting picked up in the third inning, bringing them a 13-to-2 victory over Shaker.

The Guilderland softball team played Schenectady on Tuesday on a sunny, breezy day. Guilderland led from the start and won 20 to 0 in five innings.

On Friday evening, April 8, the Guilderland boys’ lacrosse team traveled to Shaker High School to take on the Blue Bison in a rematch of the 2021 Class A sectional championship. The game went back and forth until the Dutch took the game-winning goal in overtime, beating Shaker 8 to 7.

GUILDERLAND — “You go fishing and there’s an infinite possibility for surprise,” says Guilderland angler John Rowen.

He’s fished trout streams in Rensselaer County that are no wider than a driveway and found 17-inch trout in them, “which is crazy,” he says with glee.

On Saturday, Apr. 2, the Voorheesville baseball team opened their season at Watervliet on a sunny cold day. The Birds used a big sixth inning to pull away and beat the Cannoneers 17-4.

On Saturday, Apr. 2, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo softball team participated in the Kris Haver Memorial Tournament at the Mudville Softball Complex in Herkimer. The Bulldogs took on Unatego in the first game of the tournament and won 3-1.

On Thursday, Mar. 31, the Guilderland girls varsity lacrosse kicked off their spring season as they faced off against crosstown rival Bethlehem. The Eagles talent over matched Guilderland as the Dutch fell 10-3 under new head coach Bill White.
