Valentine A. Ciupek

VOORHEESVILLE — Valentine A. Ciupek, a high school athlete, worked a variety of jobs as he and his wife raised two children. He retired as a head account clerk after a 33-year career with the state.

Mr. Ciupek died on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021, after a brief illness. He was 96.

Edwin Wood

NEW SALEM — Edwin Wood of New Salem was a World War II veteran who worked as a millman and was always willing to help others.

 A loving father and adoring grandfather and great-grandfather, he “went to be with the Lord” on the afternoon of Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021, his family wrote in a tribute. He was 93.

Loretta N. Cammer

GUILDERLAND — Loretta N. Cammer (née Durante) of Guilderland died peacefully at her home while in the loving arms of her family, on Nov. 19 after a lengthy, courageous battle with age-related illnesses. She was 88.

GUILDERLAND — Carter Allen Andersson-Wintle of Guilderland and Davenport, Florida died peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 14, 2021, at Albany Medical Center, with his loving wife and daughters by his side, after a courageous 20-year battle with cancer. He was 72.

Bruce Alan Sell

ALTAMONT — Bruce Alan Sell of Altamont, a religious man with a great love of family, died suddenly at his second home in Las Vegas, Nevada on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2021. He was 73.

Lisa Van Wie Heiser

“Lisa Van Wie Heiser found eternal peace in the arms of her Lord, on Sunday, Nov. 7, surrounded by her loving family and friends,” her family wrote in a tribute. She was 57.

She was born in Albany on Oct. 12, 1964 to Gaile Carter (née Wood) and Charles F. Van Wie Jr.

BERNE — Russell Victor Gladieux was a natural leader who excelled at all he put his mind to. He died on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021, at the age of 81. 

Louis Fletcher Ismay, an educator, lifelong advocate for social justice, champion of environmental causes, and one of the oldest grassroots activists in New York’s Capital Region, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2021, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany. He was 96.
The cause of death was congestive heart failure.

Linda A. Lown

ALTAMONT — Linda A. Lown, a nurse who loved horses, died suddenly on Monday, Oct. 18, at her home in Altamont.

Jeffery Lee Slingerland, of Davenport, Florida, and formerly from Clarksville, died suddenly at Celebration Hospital in Celebration, Florida on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021. He was 63.

He was the son of the late Katherine and Howard Slingerland.
