ALTAMONT — After being postponed twice,  St. Lucy/St. Bernadette Church in Altamont is once again sponsoring a trip departing from Albany to Provence and the French Riviera.

Young mothers and their infants are receiving handmade items from the Christ Child Society of Albany Drive-Through Baby Shower, which was held on Oct. 30.

Roland Tozer and Dennis Fancher, Westerlo Historical Society members, stand by a new marker the society placed at the site of the Samuel Snyder Sawmill where routes 402 and 404 intersect, near Bear Swamp. Later known as Brittons’ Mill, it was owned by Nathan Britton and his wife, Emma Snyder Britton, and powered by a tractor steam engine. A 1924 storm destroyed the mill but part of the dam still stands on land now owned by Patricia and Joanne Britton. Kate Latham of Westerlo and Rosie Kuhar of Rensselaerville are direct descendants of Samuel Snyder.
