ALTAMONT —  Helen G. Moller — a wife and mother who worked as a school secretary — died on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, at Ellis Hospital.

“Her love and affection will be missed by all that knew her,” her family wrote in a tribute.

VOORHEESVILLE — Christine D. Lehman loved animals all her life and, through them, she served people.

GUILDERLAND — Kathryn Jean Zelezniak, known to friends and family as “Jean,” was a woman with “a beautiful smile,” said her husband, Michael Zelezniak. It was her smile that first drew him to her and that sustained him over 59 years of marriage.

“She was very kind and loving,” he said.

GUILDERLAND — Ruth Gwendolyn Painter, Altamont’s long-time and beloved librarian, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016, at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing of Guilderland in Guilderland Center due to Alzheimer’s disease. She was 96.

SLINGERLANDS —  Salvatore J. Fiato, a decorated World War II veteran and champion skeet shooter, was also a hairdresser and a gifted artist.

“He was a gentle gentleman,” said Christine Fiato, his loving wife of 21 years.

He died peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016, at his home. He was 93.
