VOORHEESVILLE — A woman who played many roles in the life of this community may have viewed her village much as she did her home life: an endless sociable gathering around a kitchen table — with good food figuring prominently.

ALBANY — William “Billy” George Heath, who loved fast cars, playing bingo, and spending time with his family, died peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016, at his home. He was 63.

He was born in Niskayuna to the late Bill and Dorothy (née Kaminski) Heath on Oct. 23, 1953.

ALTAMONT —  Janice A. Wright of Altamont, whom her family described as a loving mother and cherished grandmother, died on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016, at Teresian House Nursing Home. She was 86.

WESTERLO — The call of country living was heard loud and clear by the young woman from the Bronx when she vacationed in the northern Catskills many years ago. And the call was amplified by happening to meet and fall in love with a fellow country-loving New Yorker who liked to visit the Wilderman-Kiefer farm in Westerlo.

NEW SCOTLAND — Robert W. Fuglein was a hard-working dairy farmer and a strict father, proud of his four children. He died on the farm he loved, now owned by his son.

“My husband always said, ‘I never seen a better spot,’” said Evelyn Irons Fuglein.

ESPERANCE — Carolyn R. Roberts, a mother who worked as a secretary and who liked to knit, died peacefully at Evergreen Commons on Friday, Dec. 9, 2016. She was 87.

GUILDERLAND — Walter E. Cieszynski was a lifelong hunter. And, despite being weak from a 34-year battle with cancer, he went hunting one last time this fall. “He didn’t go far from the house. I was worried, and he gave me a time he’d be back,” said his wife. “He got a big deer.”

KNOX — “You name it and my father probably drove it.”

Denise Peister said this in remembering her father, Peter Leslie Kolanchick, who died on Monday, Nov. 21, 2016, just one week after his 62nd birthday.
