To the Editor:

It’s time for New Year’s resolutions, particularly those about our health. Although gun violence remains a leading cause of death among young people, our most dangerous weapon is still our fork. Forty-five times as many die of chronic diseases linked to a diet containing animal products, sugar, and salt.

To the Editor:

As a follow-up to my letter in the Dec. 18 edition of The Enterprise, here is a brief summary of the results of the Schenectady Christmas Bird Count held Saturday, Dec. 20:

Thirty-one birders in nine field parties found 69 species in the 15-mile diameter count circle.

To the Editor:

Altamont Community Tradition would like to thank everyone who made the 13th Annual Victorian Holiday Celebration a huge success. We are extremely thankful to our gracious house hosts as they opened their historic homes as part of this year’s Holiday House Tour.

To the Editor:

Our family is heartbroken over the death of Dan Leone; he was a very special man who cared about people. He did his best to give quality food at his Pizza Villa.

He went the extra mile; never too busy to stop and talk to his clientele. We know that we are not alone in feeling this way.

To the Editor:

What a difference a year makes. Last year, as I made a celebratory holiday dinner at my home for my staff, I received a call that changed my life. My dental practice was on fire and, as I raced to the office from my home, I could see the sky lit with flames shooting from the roof.

The Guilderland School Board met last week to discuss the results of a summit held a month earlier.  Board members spent considerable time interpreting the record sheets of ideas garnered from summit volunteers who provided solutions for the revenue shortages experienced by the school in the last several years.

To the Editor:

As the year of 2014 draws to a close, the Women's Auxiliary to the Knox Fire Department wants to thank everyone who supported us in all of our community events throughout the year.

We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, hoping that 2015 will be a good year for all.

Torure, hurting, others, is a subject most of us would like to turn away from. Nevertheless, some of us (we ourselves?) find descriptions and discussions of inflicting pain interesting or even exciting.

We see it in our kids — early on. Kinds are cruel. They will hurt their siblings, playmates, pets, even their parents.

To the Editor:

On Dec. 14, the New Salem Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary hosted its Seventh Annual Teddy Bear Tea with Mrs. Claus. Tea sandwiches, Christmas cookies, tea, and hot chocolate, all prepared by the auxiliary, were enjoyed with the 30 children and 31 adults in attendance.

To the Editor:

The Community Storehouse of Rock Road Chapel wishes to thank all those who have helped us make a difference in our community. We could not feed those in need without the support of so many kindhearted organizations and people.
