The Guilderland girls’ soccer team was knocked out of the Class AA playoffs on Oct. 28 with a 5-to-0 loss to Niskayuna at home in the quarterfinals.

The Guilderland girls' volleyball team won in three straight sets (25-11, 25-21, and 25-16) against Shaker on Oct. 28.  The boys won their matchup against Colonie on Friday to advance in the playoffs.

Eighth-seeded Berne-Knox-Westerlo took on top-seeded Stillwater on Monday evening at Stillwater High School for the Class C sectional quarterfinal.

On Oct. 13, the Guilderville swim team competed against Albany at home for Senior Night.

The Blackbirds are headed towards its best season in history. Voorheesville faces Fonda (7-1) in the semifinals this Saturday.

For the second year in a row, the Blackbirds were halted by Ichabod Crane in the boys' soccer match. This time, they took a goal, ending the game 2-to-1.

A goal by Julia Voss in the 39thminute, off of a well-placed assist by Talia Crisafulli, was enough offense for Voorheesville to advance to the finals.

The Blackbirds won one set and lost three by the scores of 18-25, 18-25, 27-25, and 17-25 against Fonda.

Jeremy Collen scored the sudden-death overtime winning goal for Guilderland on Monday in the Class AA soccer quarterfinals against Saratoga.

Four or five soccer teams can make a case for a Class AA championship in 2014, and Guilderland is certainly one of them.

Voorheesville is not the volleyball powerhouse it once was.

The BKW girls' soccer team turned an 0-5 start into a 6-7-2 season as it hopes to win a sectional game on Friday.

Guilderland is the defending Class AA soccer champion, and after a successful regular season, the team is looking to repeat.

Again, the Berne-Knox soccer team pitched a shutout, but it took two overtimes to score a goal to advance in the Class C playoffs.

Guilderland was a big winner at the Albany County Meet last Friday.
