To the Editor:

On behalf of the Altamont Free Library, I would like to extend our thanks to all who made our Summer Concert Series a success: concert-goers, sponsors, and performers. Although the weather did not always co-operate on Tuesday evenings, we enjoyed six weeks of fine musical styling by talented performers.

 To the Editor:

To say 2014 has been a difficult year for our family is a bit of an understatement. In May, our mother, Joan Bonitz Dinovo, passed away unexpectedly.  Sadly, just 82 days later, our father, Salvatore R. (simply known as “Bob”) Dinovo, passed away as well.

To the Editor:

For as long as I can remember, my cousin, sister, and I could not wait for the Altamont Fair every year.  We lived for that one week full of horseshows, eager animals, delicious food, and wondrous crafts and artwork proudly displayed by the crafters and artists.

To the Editor:

Mark your calendars for this year’s Farms and Artisans Tour on Sept. 13 and 14!  It is an opportunity to take a ride through rural Albany County and enjoy the beautiful days of late summer in the countryside.

To the Editor:

Did you know that over 39,000 people die by suicide each year in the United States? These are more than just numbers; they represent our family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues.

To the Editor:

It seems the Guilderland School Empire does not understand one simple fact: “Altamont children go to the Altamont school.” This tradition will never , ever be broken.

To the Editor:

This past Sunday, Aug. 10, my daughter and I had the pleasure of going to the book-signing for Images of America Altamont by Keith C. Lee. Met a lot of old friends and also some nice visits.

To the Editor:

On Aug. 10, the Altamont community gathered to celebrate the release of the book Images of America: Altamont, published by Arcadia Publishing.  I want to express my sincere thanks to all the sponsors, noted in the photograph below, for their support for the book and for the Archives.

To the Editor:

On behalf of the Women's Auxiliary to the Knox Fire Department, I want to thank everyone who made our fourth annual town-wide garage sale a success.

With all your help, we were able to raise over $250 for the auxiliary.

To the Editor:

I’m writing in defense of carpenter bees (Xylocopa), important pollinators and friends!

Last month’s article about killing them was like a punch in a sore spot for me. Twenty dead carpenter bee friends! Please don’t kill them next year. Here’s why.
