BERNE — Ray Weiler says he was inspired by the customers of the Fox Creek Market and his family’s future to re-open the store that closed on March 7.

A memorial service will be held for Frances Severson Cowan on Saturday, May 31, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 140 Maple Ave. in Altamont.

Her family asks that friends join in a celebration of her life.

A reception will follow the service.

Guilderland’s Capital Financial Planning Charitable Foundation held its fifth annual golf tournament and dinner party with live and silent auctions on May 19 at the Albany Country Club.

GUILDERLAND — Local residents now may pick up their groceries curbside at the Guilderland Hannaford Supermarket & Pharmacy.

The new service, called Hannaford To Go, is Guilderland’s first curbside grocery pickup option.

KNOX — The Knox Youth Council is sponsoring Community Day on Monday, May 26, from noon to 2 p.m.  This will follow the Knox Memorial Day parade, which will end at the town hall on Route 156 in the village.

KNOX — A longtime volunteer with the Knox Fire Company Auxiliary, an aid for the elderly, and a local Cub Scout den leader, Mary Sherman was honored by the New York State Office for the Aging on May 6 with an Outstanding Contribution by a Senior Award.

Three local women are among six Albany Medical Center nurses to be honored with the Pillars of Nursing Awards — the highest nursing award bestowed by the medical center for excellence in patient care and leadership:

— Dorothy Augenstein, of Guilderland, a registered nurse in pediatrics;

Clotelle Drakeford and William Andrews were recently honored by the Albany County Bar Association.
