VOORHEESVILLE — Ever since Thomas Reardon was a student in elementary school, he wanted to work in one.

GUILDERLAND — An old hand and a newcomer are making uncontested runs for the Guilderland Library Board of Trustees.

Barbara Fraterrigo has been on the board since the library had an elected board, that is, for 21 years.

BERNE — Superintendent Steve Schrade, an administrator at the Berne-Knox-Westerlo School District for nearly two decades, announced Monday that he will be retiring, effective Aug. 15.

BERNE — As challenger Carolyn Anderson and incumbent John Harlow run for a single seat on the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Board of Education, both candidates know that several challenges will be faced by whoever wins in the May 19 election.

VOORHEESVILLE — The public library here hopes to begin planning for a new building in the coming year and has presented a budget for 2009-10 that looks quite similar to this year’s spending plan.

BERNE — As the May 19 school-board election approaches, incumbent John “Jack” Harlow will be challenged by long-time Berne resident and Berne-Knox-Westerlo budget advisor, Carolyn Anderson.

GUILDERLAND — Five candidates are vying for three Guilderland School Board seats in the May 19 election. Petitions to run were due on Monday.

For the first time in more than a decade, the candidates are divided in their support of the budget.

GUILDERLAND — The bridge connecting one end of Weaver Road, with its 20 houses, to Route 146, has been closed, and will remain closed for the foreseeable future, leaving residents with concerns.

NEW SCOTLAND — Since the town hired an Internal Control Officer in January, it has been steadily working towards restructuring parts of its operation.
