Convention costs $8k for eight officials

RENSSELAERVILLE — Eight officials spent close to $8,000 on a recent convention trip.

BERNE — The race is on for two open seats on the Berne-Knox-Westerlo school board.  Both seats are for three-year terms.  At BKW, school board members rotate into the roles of president and vice-president.  The posts are unpaid.

KNOX — was elected to the board in 2004 and voted out in 2007.  He is making a run to reclaim a seat he lost in a four-way race for two seats last year.

GUILDERLAND — James B. Smalls was arrested after, police say, he tried to break into several apartments in Serafini Village last Saturday afternoon.

BERNE — is making his first run for the Berne-Knox-Westerlo School Board.

GUILDERLAND — says he is running for a fourth term on the Guilderland School Board because of his commitment to education.

Dornbush, 58, has been on the board since 1999 and currently serves as vice president.
