Five run for three seats, hold varied views on issues



GUILDERLAND — Five candidates are vying for three Guilderland School Board seats in the May 15 election.




GUILDERLAND — "I’m a proponent of good governance," said , a certified public accountant, making his first run for school board.





NEW SCOTLAND – Plans for two more developments have been submitted to the town.

Three run for Voorheesville School Board






VOORHEESVILLE – Timothy Blow says it’s time to be a part of the school’s decision-making process, instead of just complaining about it.
"I’ve always been on the outside, interested," Blow said. He is unhappy with some of the decisions that have been made in recent years, he said.




VOORHEESVILLE – says, "The school board is there for the school, and to be a voice for the taxpayer." It is not a conduit for any personal goals, he said, adding that votes and actions should be done impartially for the district.





VOORHEESVILLE – believes that he can make a difference.
He understands how to be a "good team player and make good budget decisions that are good for everyone," he said.

BERNE — For the second straight year, Berne-Knox-Westerlo, which often has had unopposed races for its school board, has four candidates running.





RENSSELAERVILLE — Just days after the town’s new comprehensive plan was adopted last month, Vernon Husek, the chairman of the committee that designed it, resigned.

The sticking point was lot size.





ALBANY COUNTY — Following an investigation into abuse of a county employee’s gas card, the Albany County Sheriff’s Department is continuing a raid on area gas stations.
