Gifts and food went to 85 families and 300 people — thank you

To the Editor:

As director of the Guilderland Food Pantry, I would like to thank the many community members who donated to our food distribution and gift giving event on Dec. 22. I am so appreciative of the time and generosity that helped to make this event so successful.

Thank you to the churches and organizations that donated gifts and toys to all our clients. This includes Christ the King Church, McKownville Methodist Church, St. Boniface Episcopal Church, Celtic Travels, The Grand at Guilderland nursing home, Toys for Tots, and Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church.

Every client received one gift from angel-tree donations and every child received one toy from Toys for Tots.

A special thank-you goes to The Grand nursing home that donated 16 turkeys for our Thanksgiving distribution and 25 hams for our Christmas distribution. Your generosity is overwhelming.

I must also mention all the volunteers who helped me plan the event and worked so hard getting gifts and food out to 85 families and 300 people! Your devotion to our clients helped to make their holiday a special one.

Many of these families would not be able to share a meal with their loved ones or provide a gift for their children if it weren’t for your time and financial donations.

I continue to be amazed by the generosity of our community and I am proud to say Guilderland is my home. Happy New Year to all of you!

Susan Hennessy, director
