To the Editor:

Government of, by, and for the people got a boost from Councilwoman Amie Burnside at the last Westerlo Building Committee meeting.

Ms. Burnside expressed a strong preference to allow public comment at workshop meetings, managed for time at the end of the committee discussion. This was supported by Councilman Joe Boone, and I hope it will improve timely public input and the opportunity for committee members to consider that input.

It’s a welcome change for those of us who attend these meetings and I want to thank these two town board members for caring enough about public participation to want to listen.
