To the Editor:

The sign read: “ Take a Tree. Make a Donation to the Altamont Food Pantry.

Individuals responded.

All trees were gone by Dec. 20 and $227 was raised.

So this is a thank-you to those who bought a tree, and especially to two young girls Holly and Morgan, who carried three heavy laden bags of groceries onto the porch.

Special thanks need to be given to Altamont Community Tradition and Altamont country Values for donating the trees.

To me, the spirit of the season was displayed by the friendly faces and warm handshakes as people were willing to contribute to others.
