Hamiltons celebrate 70 years of marriage

NEW SCOTLAND — Arthur and Betty Hamilton of New Scotland celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Dec. 21 of this year.

The couple met through family members and fell in love. After serving in the Navy in World War II, Mr. Hamilton married his sweetheart in Binghamton, New York in 1946.

Art and Betty Hamilton started their family in Binghamton and eventually moved to New Scotland in 1959 where they still live today. They are parents to a large loving family of eight children, 14 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Hamilton retired from a long career at Allstate Insurance Company and Mrs. Hamilton was a homemaker, and then went on to retire from her job as a bookkeeper at Stonewell grocery store.

They celebrated their anniversary this month with a large gathering of family and friends at Michael’s @ Pinehaven, Pinehaven Country Club in Guilderland.
