Together, we spread holiday cheer to Altamont

To the Editor:

From bagpipes to the Santa Train whistle, the sounds of the season energized Altamont. The 2019 Victorian Holiday Celebration entertained neighbors and visitors, who found themselves surrounded by the charm of our extraordinary village.

The Altamont Community Tradition Board of Directors would like to applaud the enthusiasm created by our many new friends, who have become engaged with the organization. Their commitment to turning great ideas into fresh, new activities helped produce a fun-filled weekend. The excitement they generated stirred all of us to become especially motivated as we planned the event.

Throughout the village, businesses and organizations, including many new to our event, opened their doors to share in the welcoming of our guests. Whether providing an activity or hosting Wintermarket vendors, ACT is delighted to partner with these groups. Together, we spread holiday cheer to Altamont during the Victorian Holiday Celebration.

The winners of the Festival of Trees were:

— First prize: “Heart of Altamont,” Leanne Royer, salesperson at CM Fox, Altamont Moms Book Club, Royer Family;

— Second prize: Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7062; and

— Third prize: Mrs. Martin’s Math Club, Altamont Elementary School.

Congratulations to all, for the wonderfully creative trees this year!

ACT extends many thanks to both the village police and department of public works for making Altamont safe and accessible during our activities. ACT sends its deep appreciation to our sponsors who make this celebration possible. Proceeds from the event allow ACT to give back to Altamont through our Community Grant Program.

The Community Wreath is overflowing, as visitors of all ages loaded it with ribbons containing their gratitude. Please look for it in the Altamont Free Library for the remainder of the holiday season. As someone commented: Altamont is “Such a special little town.”

Happy Holidays!
