Discount retailer Primark signed a lease agreement in November to take over part 45,992 square feet of the former Lord & Taylor space.

GUILDERLAND — An Irish retailer is setting up shop at Crossgates Mall.

Primark, a discount retailer that recently crossed the pond, signed a lease for around half, 45,992 square feet, of the old Lord & Taylor space, according to court filings.

The rest of the former luxury retailer’s space is currently being used as a state-run mass-vaccination site.

Under the lease agreement, Primark, which is owned by a British conglomerate, will pay Crossgates $862,350 in rent for the first year of contract and is “subject to escalation,” according to the court documents.

In re-leasing the space, Crossgates anticipates incurring close to $5 million in expenses, which the mall is attempting to claw back from the holding company that now owns what was once Lord & Taylor.
