Traffic stop leads to weapons arrest
GUILDERLAND — A traffic stop on Western Avenue Sunday, police say, led to a Maine man being charged with illegally possessing a loaded handgun.
Zachary R. Brislin, 22, of Buxton, Maine was charged with second- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon as well as a traffic violation.
According to a release from State Police, events unfolded this way: Brislin was stopped on Route 20 at about 2:09 p.m. on Aug. 10 for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation.
“During the investigation, an illegally possessed loaded handgun was discovered in the vehicle which was seized,” the release said.
Brislin was processed at the State Police headquarters on Willow Street and arraigned in Guilderland Town Court, where he was remanded to Albany County’s jail in lieu of $25,000 cash, $37,500 bond, or $50,000 partially secured bond.
