Barry James Schinnerer
Barry Schinnerer, along with his late wife, Terry, was a beloved Berne-Knox-Westerlo bus driver for more than 30 years.
Born on June 19, 1954, he died on Monday, Nov. 24, 2025. He was 71.
“Barry attended Christian Brothers Academy before he went off to Lowell University to become a meteorologist,” his family wrote in a tribute. “Fate would have it that, while at home in the summer 1977, Barry got a job with a local carpenter that led him to his future wife, Terry, and the two became inseparable.
“They both worked for the Berne-Knox-Westerlo School District until they retired together. As a couple, they touched the lives of so many people due to their caring nature. They were often described as inspirational and inseparable. Therefore, there is no doubt that in death they will now walk side by side for eternity.
“Barry was a loving father to his daughter Billie Jo, proud Poppy to his grandson Theron and granddaughters Evan and Serenity. He is also survived by his older sister, Sharon Mahar, and by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Barry was blessed to have many wonderful neighbors and friends for whom he was always grateful.
“In lieu of flowers, the family asks that people make donations to the charity of their choice or perform random acts of kindness in Barry’s memory.”
