GUILDERLAND CENTER
— Rev. E. O. Moffett of the Reformed Church will deliver an illustrated sermon Sunday evening, entitled “The Children’s Christ.” All are invited to attend. The children particularly will enjoy it.
— New seats for the school house have arrived which will be a great improvement when installed.
VILLAGE NOTES
— The first real snowstorm of the winter arrived on Thursday and covered Mother Earth with a blanket of white heavy enough to last for a few days at least. The temperature was moderate so no great distress was caused by the storm. It simply made things look more seasonable. Automobiles are able to run with chains for the slippery places.
— Three students of the Albany School for Certified Nurses were injured last Friday afternoon at Lancaster and Lark streets, Albany, when a truck owned and operated by Thomas Farrelly of 14 Delaware Terrace rammed a Ford car owned by Harry Fredendall of Altamont and driven by Charles Vinehout, jr. The force of the collision caused the Ford to swerve and knock the women down. They were treated by Dr. William Lewi and later taken to their home. Vinehout was taken to the fourth precinct station house, was later discharged and allowed to return home. Farrelly and Vinehout were told to appear before Judge Bracdy in court on Monday. Farrelly failed to put in an appearance. The nurses refused to press the case, merely asking that they be reimbursed for physician’s expenses, and the case was dismissed by Judge Brady.
DUNNSVILLE
The tax rate of the town of Guilderland has been fixed by the board of supervisors at one dollar and sixty-one cents on the $100 of valuation. The highway tax is to be added to this.
PARKER’S CORNERS
Frank and Douglas Houck have installed a pipeless heater in their home.
BELLEVUE
Mrs. Elizabeth Mesick Youmans, who is studying music this winter in Paris, is accompanied by her mother, Mrs. C. C. Mesick of Schenectady. Mrs. Youmans wrote recently of a trip to an American cemetery where an American couple are working as caretakers because they wish to be near the grave of a son who was killed in the war.
SLINGERLANDS
— Skating on Herrick’s pond the past week has afforded fine sport for the young people.
— A handsome electric pulpit lamp was presented to the Slingerlands M. E. church last week by Mrs. Estelle Healey Munson and Miss Elizabeth Bingham Healey in memory of their father, the late Christopher Healey. The pastor, the Rev. George Palmer, at last Sunday morning’s service, gave a most impressive address in behalf of the congregation, in accepting this beautiful gift and dedicated the same to the memory of Mr. Healey, who was a devoted member and worker in this church.
