To the Editor:

In 1893, Altamont hosted the first annual Albany County Fair. The main event was harness horse racing in front of the original grandstand, now the poultry building.

We are planning some very special events to commemorate the 125th fair and we need your help. We want to create a special exhibit to showcase the Altamont Fair and how it grew with the community. We are also planning a book to commemorate this milestone.

Do you have any memorabilia, photos, letters, programs, etc. from the Altamont Fair? Did you work at the fair? We would love to get copies of your memories to share.

Did your family exhibit animals at the fair? Did you enter your prize jams and jellies? Does your family have any special memories of the Altamont Fair to share?
