To the Editor:

On Dec. 10, the New Salem Volunteer Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary hosted its 10th Annual Teddy Bear Tea with Mrs. Claus, featuring candy canes and peppermints this year.

Tea sandwiches, a peppermint trifle and biscotti for dessert, tea and hot chocolate all prepared by the auxiliary were enjoyed with the 31 children and 32 adults in attendance. Mrs. Claus read to the children and sang songs and Santa visited to add to the excitement of all the children. A wonderful time was had by all.

Thank you for the support of all the parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends who stayed to enjoy the tea with us.

Thank you to Mrs. Claus, Santa, and the members of both the auxiliary and the fire department who helped make our Teddy Bear Tea such a wonderful community event. We also would like to thank the many volunteers and elves who gave of their time to assist us.

In appreciation, the New Salem Auxiliary would like to thank both the Voorheesville and Guilderland Hannaford Supermarkets, Falvo’s Meat Market in Voorheesville, and ShopRite of Slingerlands for their generous donations of food items and a gift card for our event.
