GTA grateful for 900 toys to cheer children

To the Editor:

The Teaching Assistant Unit of the Guilderland Teachers’ Association just concluded its 16th Annual Holiday Toy Drive to benefit needy area children.

The toys were delivered to Georgianna Pennacchia, the president of the St. Madeleine Sophie Food Pantry, who will distribute them to children from Northern Rivers Family Services who are awaiting foster care and to children from local families who are experiencing difficulties in their lives.

The month-long drive was extremely successful due to the generosity of the school district, our Parent Teacher Associations, and the community. We received donations of over 900 toys, books, and wrapping supplies.

We thank all of our donors for helping to bring a little bit of cheer to the children this holiday season.
