Visiting the grave of our late Scoutmaster inspired us to raise money for wreaths

To the Editor:

I am member of Troop 79 of Berne. Over the past month, we have raised money for Wreaths Across America so that we can go to Saratoga National Cemetery and place wreaths on the graves of soldiers.

The troop became involved last year so that the Scouts could visit the grave of our late Scoutmaster, Bob Delaney. We raised money enough money for 33 wreaths.

We plan on continuing this honorable event next year and we ask for any donation for this upcoming year or any year after. The instructions are printed below and it would be greatly appreciated if other local organizations would donate just $15 to the cause.

— 1. Visit www.wreathsacrossamerica.org and click on the big red “DONATE” button;

— 2. Select the “Sponsor through a local fundraising group” and enter the group ID NY0138 in the “search by” box above the map of the states;

— 3. Click on the group name BKW Boy Scouts from the dropdown box and click the donate button in the smaller box that appears;

— 4. Follow the steps for the sponsorship process from here. Please note that you can enter any dollar amount by clicking on the small black arrow that appears beside the automated suggested amount shown; if the donors clicks on the words “Choose amount to sponsor” they can remove those words and enter the amount they wish to sponsor (example: $5.00 or $32.00 or $105.00) OR they can select one of the preset amounts from the dropdown field).

Thank you.
