FEURA BUSH, SOUTH END.

On Thanksgiving eve, Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Van Alstyne opened their house to a dancing party for their friends. Messrs Franklin and Chester Van Alstyne furnished the music and the young folks tripped the light fantastic toe until an early hour. A lunch was served at mid-night and in spite of bad weather and worse roads, all had an enjoyable evening.

WEST BERNE.

No school in this place and vicinity Monday as teachers were all in attendance at the physical training exercises in Berne.

ALTAMONT MAN WAS
KILLED IN FALL.

Edward Zeh of Altamont was killed Thursday morning while at work in Schenectady for Ellis B. Edgar, a contractor.

The contracting firm is engaged in reconstruction work on the outlet of the dam at Brandywine park. Mr. Zeh with other men was busy repairing the break in the dam’s bulkhead, under Altamont avenue. He started to walk across the scaffold erected over the dam when his foot slipped and he fell, striking the scaffolding which gave way, and he went down to the sandy soil below, a fall of about ten feet.

The timbers fell, pinning him underneath. When help reached him he was found in a standing position, with his face against the wall and a 4 x 6 timber across the back of his neck. Death must have been instantaneous from such a blow, although his neck was not broken.

GOV. SMITH ENDORSES

CHRISTMAS SEAL.

The Christmas Seal has received the official endorsement of Governor Alfred E. Smith, who has issued a proclamation announcing that this month will be the period of Christmas Seal selling and calling upon all of the people of the state to assist in the fight being made against tuberculosis, by their personal services and by the liberal buying of the seals.

Those who purchase seals are urged to use them upon their holiday letters and packages, it being claimed by those in charge of the campaign that each seal which is used is of great value in bringing the cause of tuberculosis prevention before the people and in addition the seals furnish an attractive decoration.

DELMAR.

The Firemen and Ladies’ Auxiliary of Delmar will hold a fair every evening next week in Community hall. The people of the community are invited to attend and make it a success.

WESTERLO.

Those who assisted Mr. and Mrs. P. Egnor picking turkeys last Monday were Rev. and Mrs. Donald Boyce, Mrs. Ida Hill, Nicholas Barber, Mrs. I. H. Arnold, Leroy Goodfellow and Lester Bradt. Many hands made light work.

SCHOHARIE and BARTON HILL.

The many friends of W. J. Barton were glad when he returned from the Adirondacks with a 240-pound deer. Venison was distributed with his usual open hearted liberality.

IRISH HILL.

Mrs. Andrew Willsey passed her 97th birthday Nov. 27. She is well and smart for a lady of her age.
