Get into the ACT on Dec. 10, and Come to the Altamont Holiday Celebration

To the Editor:

The leaves are all raked up, the turkey soup is ready, and so the presence of Christmas is taking over our thoughts. The red barns, the evergreens, the sounds of Christmas carols, and the anticipation of parties and gatherings of family and friends are now in our minds.

To get you further into the season is the Altamont Community Tradition 16th annual Victorian Holiday celebration on Dec. 10, from noon to 5 p.m.

This event — with the Living Nativity, lots of outdoor and indoor activities throughout the village, animals to pet, bonfires, storytelling, music, local brews, artisan crafts, and tours of decorated homes with trolley transportation — is looked forward to by many residents and visitors from all over the Capital Region.

House-tour tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the Masonic Temple on Maple Avenue. These proceeds from the house tours support various community and historic projects. While there, you can bid on beautiful decorated wreaths and vote on your favorite decorated tree, designed by various local groups.

Many village businesses will be open regular hours, with some hosting special events.

How about a cannoli at Severson’s Insurance — yum!

A huge treat is the arrival of Santa Claus on the 5 p.m. Santa Special Train by the Altamont Free Library. There will be gifts for the children and photo opportunities for the parents.

This holiday event in our beautiful village is a special treat for all ages. Please jot down the date: Dec. 10 from noon to 5 p.m.

Hope to see you there!
