Run Off That Turkey Trot 5K set for November 29

To the Editor:

With Thanksgiving Day just around the corner, it’s time for the 17th annual Run Off That Turkey Trot 5K and 2 Mile Community Walk. The event will be held at the St. Lucy’s/St. Bernadette’s Parish Hall on the Saturday after Thanksgiving — Nov. 29, starting at 9 a.m.

The event benefits local food pantries and The Caring Closet, featuring awards in many age groups and a walk division. We also have a prize for the best turkey-related costume.

Those competing are asked to bring unexpired canned food items, dry goods, or feminine hygiene products.

We would love to see a solid representation from the Altamont community at this year’s event.

Running gloves will be available to all those that pre-register while supplies last.

Registration is available online at https://www.zippy-reg.com/online_reg/index.php?e=2290

Registration fees online are: $29 for ages 19 to 69, $22 for ages 13 to 18, $20 for ages 70 and up, and $12 for children 12 and under — for both the 5K and 2 Mile. On race day, the fee goes up to $35 for all ages.

Volunteers help make events such as this successful.

We are in need of at least 12 volunteers. Gloves go to all volunteers — no experience necessary, on-the-job training provided. Volunteers should email if interested in helping out as soon as possible.

Thank you to the Altamont Police Department and all those in the village and beyond who help make events such as these very successful.

So, please come out and support the 17th Run Off That Turkey Trot 5K and 2 Mile Community Walk, as a competitor, walker, or volunteer.
