We challenge Albany County to find a solution for Knox’s unserved households

To the Editor:

We would like to thank The Altamont Enterprise for publishing our letter on Nov. 13, headlined “Broadband Committee wants to know why Knox was excluded” and reaching out to Albany County and New York State agencies for comment and accountability [“Unserved northern Albany County has to wait for feds to fund broadband,” The Altamont Enterprise, Nov. 12, 2025].

In response to Albany County’s comments, the Town of Knox Broadband Committee would like to know what other municipalities, besides the Town of Knox were entirely excluded from the Albany County Broadband Expansion Project?

Instead of abandoning the town of Knox and leaving us at the mercy of New York state and the federal government, we challenge Albany County to find another solution to connect our unserved households; for example, funding the costs of the satellite equipment needed to access the internet, a minor cost for Albany County.

If Albany County chooses not to take any further action, is it equitable for Albany County to use taxes paid by town of Knox residents to purchase the College of Saint Rose Campus, while leaving 200 Knox households located in the Capital Region of New York state in the Dark Ages?

Thank you for listening.
