DELMAR 

Two fires due to faulty installation of the heating apparatus, broke out in the Delmar school on Monday. The first one started in Miss Collier’s room and the second one several hours later in Mrs. Simmons’s room. Both rooms are in the new building and the heaters were placed directly on the board floors which ignited and caused considerable damage. The principal, Mr. Mackey, is entitled to a great deal of credit for the prompt and efficient manner in which he organized a fire brigade and fought the second, but it was necessary to call the fire engine for the second one. The building is out of commission, while concrete bases are being laid for the furnaces, and repairs made to the floors and walls. 

SOUTH BERNE 

People in this vicinity do not intend to go without the latest news, music, etc. A radio is now installed in nearly every home. George Jackson and Hazel Filkins being the last ones to have them installed. 

DUNNSVILLE
William Gillespie, the boy who disappeared from his home at Guilderland Center last week, was found on the farm of Leslie Stewart, where he was working for Edward Mattice. 

DUANE 

Spencer Christman and William O. Becker have caught four raccoon and the hunting season open only five days. Reports from northern New York indicate that many bears have been seen and shot, and one has been seen in this vicinity. While Mrs. William O. Becker and son Stillman were returning from South Schenectady last Sunday evening a bear was seen to cross the road near the home of William Weaver. Help was summoned and a dog put on the track but the animal was not seen again. 

FEURA BUSH 

Much credit is given to Francis Creble and Robert Creble who have recently had their houses painted. Quite an improvement to the village. 

CLARKSVILLE
Dr. Leon Shank had the misfortune to sprain one of his legs badly, tearing the ligaments. This is unfortunate, occurring when he has so many patients to attend to. He is trying to care for them on crutches. 

FULLERS 

Monday afternoon our school enjoyed a party in honor of Miss Clara Morgan’s sixth birthday. A large birthday cake with candles was brought by Mrs. Morgan and lighted, during which little Helen Morgan sang a solo, “A Birthday Wish.” The cake was then cut, and was much enjoyed by all. 

BERNE 

While helping draw wood for the Reformed church on Wednesday of last week, Fred N. Deitz had the misfortune to have the wheel of a lumber wagon run on his ankle, injuring it severely. Sorry to say that he isn’t improving as rapidly as we wish he might. Frank Van Schoick is running the mail route for him. 

THREE-MILE CENTER 

There are many serious accidents while hunting nowadays. More care should be taken, and the “hootch” should be left at home.
